I've linked to this blog from my alumni page.
I'm hoping I'll get to hear from some of the "ghosts" of my co-years. People like Henrik or Tomas (both Czech and Slovak ^^). Where are you guys?
Oh and Tiziano, if you find this page thanks for the letter, I'll be sending you a reply very soon.

But yes...japanese, kittens, World of Warcraft.
All that good stuff.

Phew...

Now is the time of updation! *Mein Teil is blasted in the background*

Alright...let's see, what was I doing last time I upated this thing.
*checks*
'ye gods its been a long while since I updated. Alright...let's get things rolling.

Entrance exams into medschool...failed.
*sigh* Yepp, my score was around average placing me around nr. 148 of the 300 that applied. Still not bad, but not good enough. So, I enrolled in the 30 unit japanese course!
With that out of the way, my recent paycheck leads me to amend my last comment. We don't have 25% income tax...it's 36.72%.

I've started work at the power company, digging ditches and laying fiber optic cable. I'm quitting in about 2 weeks. This has been quite fun. A huge difference from working at the old folks home. The job is very masculine, and its amazing how much that helps morale. Also I've got quite a good workout digging those ditches and lifting those paving stones, just need abit of gym work to smoothen things out.

Wacken came and went!
Didn't spend that much really...after everything (room and board in Copenhagen included) I'd spent around 500 euro. Not so much really since that was with all the stuff I bought, with a tent and such.
But, the festival. It was beyond words and it climaxed on Saturday with Emperor! Was at my favorite festival, at the front for my favorite band (technically 2nd line) with my favorite person! Saw a bunch of good bands besides; Arch Enemy, Children of Bodom, Wintersun, Korpiklaani, Whitesnake, Ministry, Opeth, Nevermore etc.
Stayed in Valhalla, which is a 240 x 240 x 185 palace of tentiness! The weather surprised everyone by letting about 10 minutes of rain fall...then no more. The sun shining evilly throughout the festival causing much burning of skin and heating of heads (thank the Nether for 2 kgs of ice cubes costing only a generous 3 euro).

I'm back home, back at work. Starting to pack away my stuff since I'm soon moving into the apartment. We'll paint and such next weekend so it's soon all gonna happen. Looking forward to a certain someone moving here and sharing said apartment :P
Alright...time for some more WoW. I've got a quest to grind!

*scampers off*

Alright...
Haven't bothered to update this thing, been engrossed in exam preperation and minor things such as eating and taking care of this apartment I'm "-sitting".

Now the hour of the exam waxes nigh and do I feel prepared? Hmm...
No...not really. I feel I've been all over the place in preperation but I haven't really gotten enough preperation done for all the subjects. I'm still a complete dumbkopf in math and physics. When we only have theory and such I'm fine it's just the equation-heavy portions that are messing with me.

I'm going to cram today and then tomorrow, at 08:00 AM (GMT) then I'll see if I can do a little damage.

Anyways...been a messed up week. Have hardly left the apartment save for playing D&D near the beginning and then a bachelor party...the cats are starting to call me names and hit me, not unlike large men named Bruno do in prisons.

But I promised I'd give some results of that mess I got into. Here's a summary:
a.) Didn't manage
b.) Nope
c.)Hah...not really
d.) Went, then saw X-Men III: The Last Stand
e.) Its moderately clean.

Due to the huge amount of responses to my last post concerning the amount of money I plan on spending at Wacken, then I suppose I should get into some of that here.
Alright...Iceland is expensive.
No really...It's expensive. Now, while I'm not "down" in those matters, I've hung out at cafés enough to know that beer, in a glass, 0.5 l is around 550 kr. With my examples from before you might understand why when working in fish you might be able to earn around 200.000 kr in a month and then spend it quickly (imagine a scenario:Monthly rent 70.000 + loans, bills, gasoline, food can easily reach 80.000 - 100.000. Leaving you 30.000, if it hasn't been taken by tax.
Oh and we have 25% income tax btw.

So...yeah...I heard some "damn you rich nordics" comment before...well...I might be rich outside of the context of my own country. But here I'm dirt-poor.

Alrighty...

Going through my bookmarks I came across Bunny's blog, which in turn led me here.
Heh...I just don't have the state of mind to constantly update this so I suppose I'll stick with the sporadic updating schedule.

What's happened?
Hmm...I moved to Reykjavík (a.k.a City of Fear) and started working, quit my job, and am now living on the money I made in those first 5 weeks. Hehe...It's been an adventure, met loads of people and then funny enough mostly hang out with my only old friends from back home.
Pretty funny how that works. I sat with one of my best friends for about 6 hours yesterday (00:00 - 06:00) just talking...about politics, life, philosophy, emotions etc. etc. It felt nice, we haven't done that in so long.
We use to stand or sit outside his house like that after RPG sessions and just chat away for hours, the cops thought we were selling drugs or planning a break in (atleast they drove by like 18 times in 2 hours).

The good old days.

At the moment I'm sitting at an impromptu LAN, playing Warcraft III with two of my ancient buddys (who happen to be together). We ate thai food, spicy as hell and lovely.

I DM'ed yesterday. The start of something epic I think. I might DM again tomorrow. Bunny is already making her character to join in August. Shit...August.
14th of June I start my entrance exams, 15th they're over...I want to start working on the 16th and then work out until around 29-30th of July. I need the cash desperately since I'm going to Wacken (or just not eat or buy anything...which would suck) I plan on spending to an upwards of 90.000 ISK at Wacken...or atleast keeping that possibility open.

So...fish processing it is. Whoop-dee-fucking-doo. But hey...cirka 200.000 ISK a month, maybe more depending on what shifts I get.

A friend of mine will be working there as well (along with the girl I'm hanging out with atm). He's moving here from "Ísafjörður". Imagine a place far away and not really special. Imagine moving there...yeah...now he's moving away and coming to the big city. Good idea methinks.
He's responsible for this master piece.

Damn this thing is disjointed...but give me a break it's like 4 AM.
I'm thinking of hitting the sack, get some rest and then mix the blix tomorrow. I need to:
a.) Take a shower (easier said than done, need to go to my local swimming pool for that seeing as I don't have a shower)
b.) Find out if there's D&D tomorrow night (technically tonight).
c.) Study, study, study, STUDY as hell...I want to finish 30 pages of bio-chem tomorrow as well as do some math in relation to that.
d.) ASS! I just remembered I'm invited to dinner tomorrow. Shit...
I need to find out when the hell that is, delay all plans for D&D and such until that's sorted...ah crud (decided to tone down the swearing).
e.) Tidy my room...I don't want it turning into a pig sty.

There...got a nice list up which I can refer to tomorrow (technically today)
Hmm...I'll post the results of how this thing goes. (like anyone cares).

Ok...sleep now.

30.03.2006 (Blogger got retarded yesterday)

I always liked Lewis Carrol's The Jabberwocky.
It's a poem which, while at first glance being hard to understand but propably about something happy, is very dark once it has been analyzed. American McGee's vision of The Jabberwocky and what it represents is also very dark.
I for one loved his version of the Cheshire cat, that cat was really disturbing and the voice casting was perfect (purrfect).
Anyways, started painting again yesterday and kicked off by trying out some new gradients. They seem alright, perhaps not as dark as I'd have liked 'em but I'll propably need proper ink to finish the model off. Currently I'm just working with paint thinned in some water to do all my inkwork, doesn't get that deep color that proper inks get.

I just watched Diagnosis Murder, these old (1996) episodes on Hallmark about this doctor that keeps finding himself in these detective situations. And who makes a guest appearance? None other than Terry O'Quinn, better known as John Locke from Lost. Funny enough he hasn't changed much since then 'till now...abit more wrinkly around the eyes maybe but otherwise unchanged. It kinda pissed me off that the fellow from DM actually stopped Terry's character, I was kindof rooting for him (Here's the episode)

In RPG news I held a giga-session on saturday which lasted from 20:00 to 08:00. I was DM'ing a group of 6 players, all of them pretty new. It was fun and I think the players enjoyed it too, even though they're just 0-level and at the end of the session 3 of them were unconscious, 1 poisoned and the other two demoralized. I have a feeling we're going to continue this campaign whenever I have time (and whenever I'll be in Westman Islands, seeing as I'm moving).
This weekend there's an RPG tourney in the City of Fear. I'm signed up for 2 of the 3 "Sessions" being held. First session is anything fantasy oriented, though I found nothing that really excited me there. Second one is horror, I signed up for Ravenloft. And third is Sci-Fi, where I'm slotted for Shadowrun.
I'm hoping I'll get to know the new systems, pick up some GM'ing tips and generally have a good time. It'll be intense though...almost 22 hours of roleplaying =D
I've also done considerable work on the RPG wiki that Smári, a friend of mine, originally set up for his own world. I've been playing around with adding info about the various monsters and locales the players have found themselves travelling to and fighting with/in. It looks like it could really be useful once the campaign kicks off more, as well as when I start DM'ing more than one group, to have an overview of my world.

Anyways...
I've got a flight to the City of Fear this afternoon, glad I'll fly instead of being thrown around in that puke-bowl that is Herjólfur, the ferry between the Islands and the mainland. It's not the welking of the ship that bothers me...it's the combined stench of: Puke + deep fried food + fish guts + oil + exhaust + citrus cleaner + sweat + farts and just generally stuffy air that hits you like a wall when you get onboard. *shudder* I get a bad taste in my mouth just thinking about it.
But, hey!, no worries. I'm flying. So the trip will take 20 minutes instead of 4 hours. *whoo*
That's it for now.

p.s. Sorry about the sucky quality of the picture, taken using a rebellious webcam. I'm working on getting a new camera since my old one has refused repair. So stay tuned for pictures with better resolution, contrast and saturation.

Jabberwocky

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe:
All mimsy were the borogoves,

And the mome raths outgrabe.

"
Beware the Jabberwock, my son!
The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!
Beware the Jubjub bird, and shun
The frumious Bandersnatch!"

He took his vorpal sword in hand:
Long time the manxome foe he sought --
So rested he by the Tumtum tree,
And stood awhile in thought.

And, as in uffish thought he stood,
The Jabberwock, with eyes of flame,
Came whiffling through the tulgey wood,
And burbled as it came!

One, two! One, two! And through and through
The vorpal blade went snicker-snack!
He left it dead, and with its head
He went galumphing back.

"And, has thou slain the Jabberwock?
Come to my arms, my beamish boy!
O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!'
He chortled in his joy.

'Twas brillig, and the slithy toves
Did gyre and gimble in the wabe;
All mimsy were the borogoves,
And the mome raths outgrabe.
